Rep. Pettersen Statement on Bipartisan Senate Agreement, House Vote

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) released the following statement after voting against the Republican Israel-only supplemental appropriations bill:

“In a divided Congress defined by Republican dysfunction, we finally have a bipartisan Senate agreement on a national security bill to help address both critical immigration and border security issues, as well as support our allies abroad in their fight for freedom and democracy. It is not perfect, but the legislation would be a huge step forward to restore order at the border and help Ukraine and Israel defend their citizens while ensuring critical humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians who are also victims of this conflict.

“Instead of working with Democrats to pass this bill, House Republicans are yet again playing games with our national security and using critical funding for our allies as a bargaining chip. I could not vote for the partisan bill they brought to the floor, as it does not meet the needs of our country or our global obligations, and has no chance of becoming law. It provides no funding for Ukraine to defend itself against Putin’s aggression, no support for Taiwan to protect against an invasion from China, and no humanitarian assistance for Palestinian civilians.

“We are at a tipping point and the bipartisan Senate agreement represents a way forward. I’m incredibly disappointed that Speaker Johnson continues to play these games while our global stability and national security are at risk. We need serious members of the House and Senate, from both sides of the aisle, to come together if we want to achieve real, comprehensive solutions to protect our nation and the world.”
