Rep. Pettersen Votes Against Republicans’ Reckless Budget Plan

GOP budget will slash health care while giving tax breaks to the wealthy

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) voted against Republicans’ reckless budget plan that will pave the way for tax cuts for billionaires like Elon Musk at the expense of hardworking families in Colorado.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t given the opportunity to vote remotely after giving birth just a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from voting against this harmful legislation. I traveled across the country with my newborn son, Sam, to vote against Donald Trump and House Republicans’ attempts to take health care away from over 400,000 Colorado kids.

“While they promised to lower costs on ‘Day One,’ this cruel and dangerous budget only makes life more expensive and hurts those who need our support the most, ripping away health care, education, food assistance, and more – all to give tax breaks to corporations and billionaires like Elon Musk. Republicans say that they care about the deficit, but this proposal would add to it by over $3 trillion.

“My two boys remind me every day what’s at stake for Colorado families. As Donald Trump and House Republicans prioritize what’s best for their billionaire donors and friends, I will always fight for Coloradans and stand up against attacks on our health care, our families, and our future.”
