Funding the government is one of the most basic tasks of governing. Yet, extremist Republicans are threatening to block the passage of the budget, which must be passed every year to keep the government and all of its services up and running. We only have one week to pass a bill or the federal government would go into a harmful and costly “shutdown.” I'm reaching out because I want to hear from you.

Shutting down the government doesn’t solve our country’s challenges. It would hurt federal employees, freeze servicemember pay, close access to our national parks and forests, and halt our efforts to address America's greatest challenges, like the opioid and fentanyl crisis.

I’m urging my colleagues in Congress to put people over politics and get this done so we can get back to delivering for the American people. I’m a member of the Problem Solvers’ Caucus, a group made evenly of Democrats and Republicans, and we’re pushing for a bipartisan framework for the budget that would ensure the government remains open.
