Last week, I led my first hearing as Vice Ranking Member focused on financial crimes, intelligence, and terrorism. We had witnesses from the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. I asked about the role these agencies play in preventing criminal activities, including human trafficking, firearms trafficking, the trafficking of stolen and counterfeit goods, and—in particular—drug trafficking.
I introduced my first bill through the Subcommittee to create a National Center to prevent the import and distribution of fentanyl and other illicit synthetic drugs.
Tackling illicit drug trade and trafficking has been one of my priorities in Congress, as well as in my decade spent in the Colorado state legislature, and I am looking forward to using my position as Vice Ranking Member to find new ways to approach this ongoing challenge.
