Rep. Brittany Pettersen

Dear [firstname],

One of my biggest priorities as your Congresswoman is making sure Coloradans have access to the affordable, comprehensive health care they need.

I’m writing to let you know that the open enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has now begun. You can sign-up for a new ACA-qualified Colorado Health Insurance plan or renew, change, update, or cancel your existing plan now through January 15th, 2024.

If you want your new plan to become effective on January 1st, 2024, you must complete your enrollment by December 15th, 2023. If you wait until after December 15th to complete your enrollment, your new plan will take effect on February 1st.

Democrats in Congress passed two pieces of legislation, the American Rescue Plan Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, to create and enhance financial assistance to help hardworking Americans purchase health insurance coverage. Under these laws:

  • More people than ever before qualify for help paying for health coverage, even those who weren’t eligible in the past

  • Most people currently enrolled in an ACA plan will qualify for more tax credits

  • Health insurance premiums will go down

The marketplace to purchase and compare health insurance plans in Colorado is called Connect for Health Colorado. You will be able to see which of these new savings you qualify for once logging into the marketplace. This year, 3 out of 5 enrollees in Colorado will have a plan available to them with a premium of less than $10 a month.

If you want to keep the same plan for next year with no changes, your plan will automatically renew and you should receive an alert from Connect for Health Colorado confirming your choice.

If you or someone you know needs assistance in this process, you can find an Enrollment Center near you at connectforhealthco.com/enrollment-center/ or my team is always available to help. Call my Lakewood office at 303-274-7944 or my Cañon City office at 719-458-6161 for assistance.
