Half a Million for Projects in Fremont County

Dear [firstname],

Good news! I secured nearly $14 million in federal funding for 15 projects across Colorado's 7th Congressional District. Congress passed these projects as a part of two bipartisan government funding packages and President Biden signed them into law this month.

These projects were designed by people in our community and will help us expand access to affordable housing, improve town centers and health care facilities, increase clean and safe drinking water, and more.

Investments in our community spaces, affordable housing, clean drinking water, and public safety are critical for the continued growth and prosperity of our community. We put politics aside in Congress to pass these projects and invest in the American people.

Fremont County

I came to Congress to make our community an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. I've been partnering with local leaders and experts on how we can make these goals a reality.

Two of the projects passed in this funding bill are located in Fremont County, delivering a half a million in federal dollars for the area. Across the county and beyond, these projects will address critical needs in our community, providing rural job and skill training through Colorado State University, as well as funding the purchase of six lots for affordable family housing.

“This funding will help us strengthen ongoing programs in Custer and Fremont counties, with an emphasis on distance learning, as we work together to build the next generation of leaders in agriculture. We are grateful to Rep. Pettersen’s team for helping us expand the good work CSU has underway with Colorado’s rural communities.”

The projects in Fremont County:

  • Colorado State University: $300,000 to provide rural job and skills training in Custer and Fremont counties through Colorado State University’s GROW Institute to help support job growth and economic development. These funds will help leverage distance learning to address workforce shortages in the food and agriculture sectors.
  • Upper Arkansas Area: $255,000 for the purchase of six lots for the construction of new affordable family homes. The homes would be built through program participants in USDA's Mutual Self-Help housing program, with technical assistance in construction provided by the Upper Arkansas Council of Governments. These funds are critical in expanding access to affordable housing in Fremont County.
