Important Deadlines Coming Up

Our veterans answered the call to serve our country, and I'm committed to ensuring they have the benefits and resources they earned.

This August marks the one-year anniversary of President Biden signing the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act into law, which expanded Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. While over half a million individuals have filed claims since the passage of the PACT Act, there are millions more who have yet to file, with two fast-approaching deadlines.

The PACT Act is a historic expansion of benefits for our veterans, and I'm encouraging all eligible veterans and eligible family members of deceased veterans in Colorado's 7th Congressional District to apply for PACT Act benefits before August 9 to receive backdated benefits and retroactive pay from August 10, 2022.

The PACT Act is one of the largest health care and benefit expansions in VA history, and includes measures to:

Expand and extend eligibility for VA health care for veterans with toxic exposures and veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras
Add 20+ more presumptive conditions for burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic exposures
Add more presumptive-exposure locations for Agent Orange and radiation
Require VA to provide a toxic exposure screening to every veteran enrolled in VA health care
Help improve research, staff education, and treatment related to toxic exposures
