The USDA has designated Fremont, Broomfield, Chaffee, Custer, Jefferson, Park, and Teller counties as primary natural disaster areas. Now, farmers and ranchers in these designated counties may be eligible for certain assistance from the Farm Service Agency (FSA). There are many available assistance programs, including emergency loans.
Available disaster programs for farmers and ranchers can be found here. In order to find specific assistance programs that might be right for you, use the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool. If you are looking for more detailed explanations of disaster assistance programs, please click here.
These services are in place to help farmers and ranchers recovering from a natural disaster, which includes droughts. I would encourage anyone who has been impacted by drought this season to apply. If you have trouble applying, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at (303) 274-7944.
