safety tips

This is also a very dangerous time of year where scammers and cyber criminals may try to steal your important information and credentials.

Remember that the IRS does not send texts or emails, and if you receive one it is a scam! The IRS also doesn't leave threatening prerecorded messages over the phone.

The best way to stay safe is to pay attention to anything that seems out of the ordinary. It is wise to directly call your bank or the IRS before clicking any links regarding your finances.

If you feel you have been targeted by a scam attack please contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting.
